The information that is available from cell phones and wireless providers can place your suspect at the scene of the crime at the time the crime occurred and even produce additional suspects and evidence of criminal activity.
The primary objective of this course is to provide practical instruction to attendees on the advanced location-based evidence available on Smartphone’s and cellular networks. Going beyond simple call detail records, attendees will then be introduced to developing technologies that allow for more accurate and efficient mapping of thousands of towers / records at one time, different types of data stored by various Wireless Service Providers and Internet-based evidence stored on modern Smartphone’s.
Students will be introduced to IP addressing on cellular devices, including the impact of mobile hotspots and 4G devices. Students will also be given practical instruction on how cellular devices are communicating with routers to alleviate the cellular networks, and how to examine routers to locate information pertaining to cellular devices.
